So I know that this has been covered but I searched and didn't really find the anwser I was looking for. I have a 07 Road Glide and I live in Virginia. It gets pretty hot in the summer with humidity. I have been running Syn3 since it was new but I can't stand the loud primary. I have seen that some people have switched and it has made it more quite. I am hoping to find something that I can put in all 3 and achieve the same results. If not I will do whatever I need to. I use to run Mobile in the engine of my Ultra but I am not sure if I can use any type of Mobile product in the tranny and primary. Any input would be appreciate...
If you want one oil that fits all, then you can use any 20/50 synthetic out there. Since the MoCo says that you can use their Syn3 in that application, then it follows that you can also use another brand. If this weren't the case, then the MoCo would have to supply you with Syn3 free of charge.
Try their Formula+ in the primary as a starting point.
maybe you got somthing going on in the primary that needs to be addressed... chain adjusted, compensator going bad, clutch problems????just a thought.....synthetic in primary is over kill.. save some bucks and put dino in primary case... +1 on synthetic in the engine oil... . use gear oil in the tranny (redline shockproof)

I agree with IMROTTON. I would check out the clutch and chain adjustment. Type of oil you use should not make any difference as far as primary noise goes.
engine, 20-50 synthetic oil of your choice
primary, HD formula + prim n trans lube or Amsoil super shift ATF or there's others
trans, 75W-90 amsoil severe gear
the point is you can use the SE syth3 in everything but not the best choice
There's a BIG difference from what you "can" do and what you probably "should" do and I tend to agree with the posters who recommended different products for different holes. Not so much the primary as dino oil can be used there for coolant but for the motor and tranny. I myself buy three different products from RED LINE (synthetic) but will switch to dino oil for the primary next change.
Mobil1 15-50 Synthetic $26.00 5qt. jug from Wal-Mart. Change every 5K miles.
Mobil1 75-90 Synthetic Tranny Oil $8.00 any auto parts store. Change once a season.
Castrol GTX 10-40 Dino $2.50qt for Primary from Wal-Mart. Change once a season. Using a synthetic in the primary is simply a waste of a good synthetic oil and a waste of money. Primary oil is not intended for lubrication. It is a coolant.
HD Super Premium Oil Filters. I buy 6 at a time from either Chicago HD or Zanottis online @ 20% off. Your filter is the weakest link in your lubrication cycle, why scrimp on it? It has the best filtering rating of any filter on the market. Change every 2500 miles.
