I just finished installing the HD adjustable backrest, on my 08 Ultra. I have read quite a few posts on the subject, before I undertook the project, and I was a bit apprehensive, given the many complaints about the complexity of the install, and the legibility of the instructions.
You know what? The install was not hard at all! I read the instructions, identified the parts, then let common sense guide me through the job, with only a few glances back at the instruction sheet. The hardest (if you can call it that) part, is routing the adjustment cable between the battery and the fuse panel. Fortunately, I had a pair of hemostats (it's a surgical tool, that looks almost like a scissors, but with flat tips, and locking handles. They are used to stop the flow of blood during surgery). The hemostat makes the cable routing a sinch! Alltogether, it probably took me about an hour, but I also work slow...
Took it out for a 50 mile test run - what a difference! I'd say it's worth every penny!
By the way, got the parts from Zanotti's, and the discount was substantial! (about $60 off the MSRP).
I'm happy, like a pig in s#*t!
I bought one off craigslist locally and can see mostly how it goes on but am sketchy on a few things. Any way anyone can email me a copy of the install instructions? I would surely appreciate it! Of course, only if it's not a pain in the azz and a scanner is readily available.

How was the install for the toggle to adjust the backrest? Where did you put it? PIcs would be nice too
Rax
Like I said, everything was fairly simple, and staright forward. The actuator lever went on the left side, under the front of the seat, just above the exhaust. I have RJ Originals heat deflectors, but they do not interfere with its operation. I'll try and take some pics, although I have no idea how to post them here....

Awesome. Need to publish pics ...
I'm laughing at the hemostats explanation .... (those of us from the 60's, are fully aware of the 'many' uses of hemostats. lol).
