Default HELP Needed, higher RPMS lower voltage

Guys I have been having problems with my 05 classic the voltage jumps all of the time and I noticed everytime I go over 2500 -3000 RPM itstarts to dip to 11 volts on the guage. I took it to a local indy he replaced the voltage regulator and 45amp startor rotor amp and battery. He had thought he fixed the problem and after a ride today it is back. When the bike is at idle or lower than 2000 rpm the voltage is at 14.5 but once I start going over 2400 it starts to bounce back and fourth btween 14.5 and 12 and when I am on the high way going over 3200 rpm it drops down to 11 and stays there. Any ideas? I am not sure if my indy can fix this, and I have spent way to much money already.

Have you tried putting a multimeter on the battery terminals and checking that way? The guage on your bike could be flakey. There isn't much to the charging system on these bikes, and it sounds like he already replaced the usual suspects.

Sounds like your indy used parts replacement as a technique for troubleshooting.
Assuming your guage is correct, and that all the parts replaced are good and the electrical connections are good, I think I would look for a poor ground somewhere. The first thing I would do however is double check the guage with a meter just to be sure there isn't an issue with the guage in the fairing.

I know the gauge is good because when the voltage starts to drop I lose my radio. so you guys are thinking this might be a gound issue? why only at higher RPM

do you think the tech just changed the rotor and not the stator. I thought you do both. He did show me the old rotor but he never should me a used stator. on the parts list invoice he charged me for a rotor 45 amp alternator.

Has the battery charge been topped off since changed parts?

And how old is that battery?

First thing go get yor multimeter out. There is an excellent post on how to check your charging system here on the forum. Do a search for it. Check your voltage where the alternator plug comes out of your cases. That'll tell you if your charging system is up to snuff. I'm going to bet you have a bad ground somewhere. Take your service manual (you do have one don't you?) and check the wiring diagrams and chase down every ground. Verify that they are good. OHM them out. I'll bet once you do this, you'll find your problems go away. Good luck . Let us know what happens.
