Default Oil Change Interval

For those of you using synthetic engine oil, do you change your oil at the recommended 5,000 mile interval or sooner? (or later?)

You can get away with 5000, but I change mine at 2500 - also change weights as the seasons change in FL.

I go by the book, regardless of what I'm using.

Change at scheduled mileage or earlier. Synthetic will maintain its lubricating properties longer as it is more heat resistant but you still have combustion by-products and contaminents loading up your oil, changing the oil gets rid of the harmful products.

I change it every 4000mi with Mobil 1 20w-50. Synthetic is kinda expensive but changing the oil often is the way to make it last.
