Anybody experience a thud when hitting some rough spots in the road, almost like the tire does not have enough air in it and the rim is hitting. I have checked the air in the tires and the shocks. It does not happen often but when it does it is concerning.
Anybody experience a thud when hitting some rough spots in the road,...
Yes I have. I wasn't sure if the shocks were bottoming out on the frame or if , as you said. Depressing the tire drasticly and hitting the rim. I increased my rear shock air pressure (with passenger) to 43 to 45 psi. Solo I run 38 to 40 psi. I don't hear as often. Don't know if the air pressure was the trick, or if I'm just blocking it out. I check the psi before each ride or every three days. I do it that often because I have a leak. I told the dealership about it on my last scheduled service....but it still leaks. I plan to use some soapy water to find the leak, but haven't taken the time yet.
Thanks for the replies, I have checked the tire air and the air in the shocks. I will try adding some air in the shocks. HarpoonMan you described it to a tee, at least I know I am not the only one with the issue.
I also experienced this and don't believe it bottomed out. in both instances I hit a manhole sunk about 2". I think it would have been more abrupt if I did bottom out but definitley a good thud. I'm running 16psi in the shocks riding solo at 170lbs.

Is this a metal to metal thud or more of a deeper tone? Also is it in the front end or Rear (if you can tell)? I have a "cluck" in the front end when hitting bumps, not all the time, it seems to be I have to hit the bumps jsut right.
