I want to put it out there that if any of you have pictures of your bikes with our windshield on it we would love to post them on our website. So I guess that's an open invitation to show off you ride.
i've seen another companys' shield, and although they claim to be great, they still look like a windshield that stayed out in the sun way too long and melted into shape. the k-works shields to me look sorta goofy. but these long ride windshields have that sleek look and are probably great at working the wind stream up a few inches further than the stock electraglide type harley windshield. i know, that's the next thing i'm gonna be buying for my streetglide. i contacted the owner of longride windshields, and was impressed that he emailed me back that same afternoon. i sensed no arrogance, nor i'm too important to reply to you, the lowly rider. not at all. he seemed quite interested in promoting his product, and took the time to answer a couple of questions for me. i'm impressed enough to where he's gonna be the one selling me his windshield when i figure out the combo for me being 6' 4" tall on an 08 sg with a roadglide seat which raises me another two inches or so. thanks long ride, from what i can tell your product is gonna be a hit.
OK, about ready to pull the trigger on a 9" (or maybe a 10") from these guys.
I have:
4" HD stock
6" HD stock
6.5" Clearview w/recurve dark gray
While the Clearview is a GREAT windscreen, I still have issues with buffeting. I mistakenly was sent a 8" Clearview w/recurve in dark gray, and while it was good - I still had some "head bobble" issues, it was somewhat "freaky dark" given the height - and I really couldn't see well through it, (it was about, or just above, my normal line of sight) so even during the day, it was uncomfortable, sight-wise.
So...I am considering a 9" Long Ride. This will indeed be my "long ride" shield. I am on the fence regarding either a 9" or 10" in either light/medium gray - any advice here?
When you are doing 500+ miles a day, and really dont want to look like another Ultra (sorry guys), I could use some input on this decision...
Wow, I have no idea how I missed that post. That troll needs to stop following us everywhere!
Well, you may have "missed it" (unlikely IMO), but what data do you have that a flat formed windshield poses "significant safety hazard"? And is the material you use as good or better than the polycarbonate used by Fastaire. Obviously, you are familiar with the product/owner since your mention him following you around.
And, looking at Fastaire's "Aero" shield, I can see why he might think you ripped off his design and simply renamed it.
How many windshields have you sold? How many employees do you have? I ask because you have a neat website, but have a Hotmail email address for Paypal payments.
Thank you for supporting HDF as a sponsor.
PS: RenoGlide, if you aren't a Forum sponsor, you should drop the link to your business' website in your signature since IIRC that's a violation of HDF rules.
i've searched Fastaire's website and while i'm sure they make a nice shield i can't seem to find one of their shields [3 hole] with a flip/flare that is comparable with the LRS. i also don't see where the "design" was copied from the Fastaire shield it appears to be just a simple shield that's been widened how many ways can you possibly make a flat shield?
another thing that bothers me is the other vendors or their friends "highjacking" another member/vendors thread. i'm a mod on another forum and this wouldn't fly we have rules against that and they are enforced.
sometimes a vendor can do more harm to their business by attacking another vendors product than if they just supplied a superior product and let the product speak for itself. personally i will not buy a Fastaire or National Cycle product now just for this reason.
The whole thing is pretty wild. I don't know what their business models are, but this just doesn't seem very productive. Slandering an official sponsor of the forums and using forum resources to do so? Why would you even chance losing respect within the HD community?
I have deleted the posts from another "windshield dealer" and issued infractions for rule violations. The only way the Mods or Admin will know when a Sponsor gets hijacked is when you click on the "Report A Post" button (the yellow triangle at the top right of a post) or pm one of us directly. We all get a "Reported Post" notification so that's the best way. We try to monitor everything on the forum but it's just impossible to catch everything.
