Default Brakes

07 RKC. 16,000 miles. Service wth state inspect. 2 weeks ago. Started looking at calipers last night. Measured pads at about 1 mm. Spouse says dealer looked at them so they got to be OK.
Question, approximately, 16,000 within need to replace. How much usually cost for standard brake replace. Rear looks OK. Should I just go and replace all pads?

I get about 15 - 20,000 out of mine, and do them myself. Last week I paid just over $200 Canadian for 3 sets of pads at the dealer. You need a small head 1/4" 12 point socket, and a 10mm 12 point. On the fronts, loosen pad pins, then remove the caliper pins and remove complete unit, then finish pulling pad pins tho get pads to drop out. On the rears, loosen pad pins only. Don't remove caliper pins. Make sure you push rear pad away from disk with a paint scraper, or you'll never get the new pad in. When the pads are seperated from the disk, finish pulling pins and have the pads drop. You'll see the pads only go back in one way, re-install and make sure you pump the brakes a few times before you go out riding, or you'll have no brakes.

Hope that helps. If not, a manual is a great investment.

Joe

Thanks guys. I'm close to it. There are some indy guys nearby, Death Row Cycles. May give them the business.
