Have a chance to buy a new 2008 ElectraGlide Classic for 16,250. It sits two inches higher than the Street Bob and weighs about 151lbs more. Seems like with the extra height and weight it may not be as stable handling at low speeds and parking lot turns as the Dyna is. I almost have the Bob the way I like it, less some bags for long distance touring.
Any thoughts, from someone who has made the switch or maybe owns both a Dyna and a Classic?
Just had another twist in this post. The local Korean Harley Dealer has an Ultra with the torqouise green, antique white paint scheme. Beautiful, but Koreans don't have enough history to catch the nostaligla of it and they are not buying it. What if I bought the new EGC, how hard would it be for them to swap parts, they take my new olive green /black paint scheme, me their torquise green, and antique white. Too hard to swap the parts? The only difference is my bike would not have the lower leg/knee panels and they would have to paint theres with the olive green paint scheme.
The swap is simple. The most difficult part is the fuel tank as there is a fuel pump inside of it. I am sure if you want the EG you will adapt to it quickly. You sit on it, so the extra weight will not be noticeable while you are moving. If you want it...get it. It sounds like a great too.

i went from an 07 streetbob to an 08 streetglide. basically the same bike although a bit lower than the classic, and the classic also has the tourpack and more chrome goodies on it. i wouldn't go back to the dyna. once you experience the stereo, the saddlebags, the far superior wind protection, and cruise control, you'll see what i mean. good luck, have fun and ride safe. just go for it, you'll digg it.
Hey they aren't buying a whole lot of the torqouise green, antique white paint bikes over here either. I have seen a few ultras and softails in that color and they have been sitting since October. I like it though.
I own both bikes. The difference is very much obvious between the bikes. The Dyna has a lower center of gravity. I have even lowered the rear on my EGC and still can tell. Now it is more of a pleasure to ride, expecially for a longer haul or if I need to carry something. EGC handles great, and in some respects better then the Dyna. But, it is not as spirited or as down to the earth of a ride... Riding the Dyna wind in your face fun.
