Wouldn't have it any other way. I'm self centered and like to do what I like to do. Riding for me is a release from society. My time to get away...from you! lol
I haven't read all the post but personally I don't like riding with other bikes. I prefer being alone, or actually with my woman on the back. That is what it is about to me, me, her, the bike and the road. For some it is a social event, which is fine, each to their own.
Wow all this time I thought I was missing the idea of have a bike..you know the friendships you make while riding but there always has to be a A type person that makes all the the calls as to which direction or when to stop or eat or where to stop to look.Sometimes I don't mind, but like the others have said it's nice to go your own pace and stop when and were you want...I feel better now
Yep. Most of my ridin' is alone. I rarely ride in a group where they are going at the pace I like and in a larger group it's a pain to keep a steady speed when some yahoo towards the front slows down and speeds up all the time.
When I first started riding, I always ragged on my friends who wanted to get a bike and said I didn't have anyone to ride with. One friend finally got his bike and I've rode a couple of short trips with him. Bottom line: I'd much rather ride alone. Clears my head and I don't have to set or match the pace, and can stop when and where I want to. Selfish? Oh well
+ 1 I just finished a 5000 mile run to the coast from IN to CA and OR solo
I ride every weekend with a group and I enjoy that too. But I love the freedom of coming and going when I want.. I have found over the years any group ride is a compromise. Aside from that you are never alone, there are thousads of other souls out there to be met and enjoyed.
i almost always ride alone too. seems like when a couple of friends and me ride together, one will have to pee, then ten miles down the road the other will need fuel, then half hour later, i'll get hungry. heck, it seems like it takes a whole days' riding to go 150 miles. but when i ride alone, i know when getting gas, pee also, and grab something to eat. i prefer operating on my schedule, making all my own choices, rather than having to go with a democracy. so yeah, rarely do i ride with anyone. if my streetglide were silver rather than vivid black, i could say, like the lone ranger, hi-yo silver, ..............etc.
No problem riding alone here, but I prefer to ride with my close friends. I have 9 good friends that are all good riders and very serious about riding. None of us ever argue about a destination. On any day I'm a phone call away from a good 200 mile ride to nowhere
