Stopped at a Shell station yesterday and filled up with Premium. I don't know if it was bad fuel or the new so called nitrogen additive but my bike ran like crap! Would barely idle. Came home gave it a drink of Sea Foam and today it's running great again. I think I'll stick with Chevron from now on.
The last few times I've filled my bike up with premium it's ran like crap sputtering and lurching for no reason. I recently changed my exhaust and instaled a PC3, so i wasn't sure if that was the cause or bad gas or something. I've been putting regular grade in it and it's been running great lately. Opinions?

I work for all different refineries and just a little info just because you got gas at a certain brand station doesn't mean it came from their refinery. Shell Martinez and chevron Richmond have a pipeline between each other to help maintain each other when the other is low on production, and I've been at work at one refinery and scene trucks from another brand filling up with fuel.

I got some Shell gas, the bike didn't run like crap but was noticably different and wondered the same thing.
What kind of gimick is this "Nitrogen Enriched" gas anyway? 78% of what we breathe is Nitrogen...
BTW.... It's tough to get past your avatar to get to your post....
I was using shell premium, then after the second tank my 87 flht started running rough. When I needed gas again premium was not available so I used 87. Got better mpg. Tried shell premium again yesterday now my bike runs on at shut off. That the end of shell gas for me
Huh, I've used Shell Premium for year in all my vehicles and motorcycles. Never had an issue. Actually went to Shell after having issues with Speedway gas.

Same thing happened to me. A tankful of Shell premium and it run like crap, low power and it idled like the motor was falling apart. So I experimented with different brands and octanes, and found out that it runs excellent on Chevron or Valero PLUS. No more premium, I am very happy with the way it runs now.
