Default H-D oil cooler---Help

How good is the Harley premium oil cooler? Will I feel a differance in heat coming up from the engine? Who is the manufacturer of this cooler? I am going to put a oil cooler in the next few weeks, and I need a little more info on what cooler will work best? What is the installation like? Any oil cooler information will help.

I had one on my Dyna and RKC and liked it. I had the dealer install mine so it would fall under the ext. warrenty.

Either the HD Oil Cooler or the Jagg are both very good. Neither of them will reduce the heat coming off the engine. For that you should get a good dyno tune or an engine management system such as a Power Commander. I have a Jagg Oil Cooler and the install was very simple... just don't tighten the worm clamps too much.

Hope this helps

I installed the HD premium cooler 18 months ago. I feel it is a MUST HAVE on any touring bike with a TC96" motor. Even more necessary for a 103 or 110. The install is pretty straight forward. The kit includes a filter base with thermostat, hoses, and cooler with bracket. I have pictures of the install if you want them. There is a lot of information on the install here on the forum if you search. You will need a large allen wrench (I beileve 7/16) to install the base. You can use a double netted bolt instead. Do a search an read up on it.

Some guys say the Jagg is a better cooler. I can't say.

The HD cooler dropped my oil temp to 180/190 with a max of 230 in traffic on a hot day. Yes, the difference can be felt.

PM me if you have more questions.
Steve

I went with the HD premium cooler and it does its job well on the oil temp but not so much the engine temp. Not noticibly anyway. The motor cooled off a bit when I put on the PCV stage one package from fuelmoto though. Cooled off even more when I took off the lowers for the summer. Heat management hasn't come on since the mods either. She's just a warm and fuzzy beast.

I did the PC-V, pipes, and AC, then I did the HD oil cooler. I will say the oil cooler cut down the heat coming off the motor significantly. It doesn't help when you are stopped but it does take longer to heat up from moving to stopped. My bike has yet to go into heat management in situations when it did before and it is much hotter outside here.

Harley or Jagg, either one should reduce the oil temperature about 20 degrees, but Jagg is as good as they get. I'm more old school, when my motor gets hot I ride faster to get away from the heat

I have a Jagg 10 row oil cooler which, according to Jagg delivers 40% more cooling than their 4 row cooler! I also installed a Big Sky Oil Cooler Fan, a Power Commander V to richen up the mixture and changed to Red Line 20W60 Synthetic; because I don’t believe that any ONE thing will make your bike run cooler…it takes a combination to things!

The above combination reduced my oil temp by 50 degrees on a 105 degree day!

Good luck!

Used both the HD and the Jagg. Both good and both work... the Jagg (at least the vertical Jagg) stands out where the HD looks like it belongs there.

im thinking about adding a oil cooler. if i replace the air temp gauge with a Oil temp Gauge.. will it read accurate temp of oil or only read temp of oil once the flow of oil goes through the oil cooler ? there is also a digital dipstick oil temp/level indicator.. are they any good or Oil temp on dash is way to go... any feedback would help...
