Default Spotlights off on engine start

I was told when I got my 08 RK that I should shut off my spotlights before I start the bike as it's easier on the starter and battery .Less electrical draw I guess.Does anyone else do this or does it not make any difference.I believe the spots are about 27 watts each.Thx for any comments.

Never heard anything like that before. It sounds good.

I've started my 08 RKC every day with the passing lamps on, headlight on, and the fog lights on that I installed on the crash bar every time.

As long as your battery has a good charge and the bike is in good running order and starts easily, you're not going to hurt anything by leaving the lights on.

You can always tell your self you are prolonging the life of the switch

Spots on my 06 have never been shut off,for what that's worth, and never
a problem, but that dosen't mean it's not a good idea to shut them off
when starting up. I've never heard any mention of this.

Same here - never heard such a thing. I have started my bike everyday for the last 2 years with the passing lamps on - no problems yet.

If your battery is weak, turn the lights off before starting. If the battery is good, save the light switch, leave them on. What could they hurt?

Probably technically correct but like everyone else here I never turn mine off (except accidentally when washing the bike ).
