I've had apes for almost 10 years. I'm on my second RK with 16" bars. I had the numb hands and upper back pain before I got the apes - but no more. I'm 5'9" and the bars hit right above my shoulders. I have them pushed forward so my arms are pretty much fully extended when I sit up straight. I would suggest finding someone that will let you sit on or ride their bike to get the feel before you buy. What's right for someone else may not be right for you. It's an expensive mistake to buy the wrong bars and cables. Good luck!

I first got bit by the "Ape Bug" when I changed out my stock RKC bars for Heritage style bars. The Heritage style bars are about 10" high & put my hands in an incredibly comfortable position. Now after seeing how good it feels to have your hands up/out in front of you I want even more height. I'm currently trying to decide if I want 12.5 or 14" Wild 1's.

After having these I would'nt be without them. 5' 10", 14"s w/Sundowner seat.It feels even better without the windshield.

I put 16's on mine and love them. wouldn't go any lower. I'm 5'11 if that helps. their comfortable, legal (barely) and handle great. also, I think anything lower than 16's starts to take away from what your trying to achieve in the first place.

Mines in the shop getting done right now. Putting on 13"er's. I have a not so good back and like to really lean into my backrest. When I do that, I can barely reach the handles. I'm 6'. I also was getting numb hands. I can't wait to try them out. Better like them, it's costing a fortune!!
