So I took off the football cover and left my cleaner exposed. I put my Willi G cover on and it fit perfect and looks really good. My question is, does anyone know where I can get a rain sock that will fit over a round cleaner? I know HD sells the one's for the new cleaners but that won't work because of the shape. Any help is appreciated...
I have not had any problems. I have ridden in heavy rain and washed it countless times. Although when I wash the bike I wrap a plastic walmart bag around the AC and tie it off on the bottom.
Wonder if it is a waste of money? I just wonder about a heavy down pour or when washing it to keep the majority of the water off of it.
If worried about when washing it, just cover it with a plastic baggie. As for the heavy downpour, a lot of folks have never had any problems. On my 04 when I ran an open air cleaner I went to Cape Cod and rode down in the rain. We went to dinner and came back out and the bike ran like crap and I had to run every stop sign to keep the bike running. Let it sit overnight and it dried out and ran perfect. Some have problems, some don't.
I rode for about a 100 miles or so the other day and it didn't seem louder. However I have loud pipes and stereo so it may have been and I couldn't hear it. As for changing anything I am not sure. All that I did was take the football off. Then I put the 5 sided star that comes with the skull air cleaner cover back on to the cleaner and then put the skull cover back on. It just so happens that the cleaner and the skull cover are the same diameter so it fit perfectly. As for an 02, if it's like my 2000 and it is a stock cleaner I think they are not round but kind of a flattened oval shape so I don't know.
