Power Commander Tuner, True Dual Exhaust and a Jagg Vertical Oil Cooler are the 3 Best mods could ever do for my Bike .. Even in the hottest FL Heat runs nicely...
on our '09 Roadk King, did a stage one with V&H slip-ons, AN BS and a fuel pack. bike runs great. also added a set of RJs originals and heat hasn't been a problem, even our our last 2000 mile trip. the RJs blend well with the seat and look like they were made for the bike .
Some folks have removed their lowers, but using the above on my '07 UC, I've never found the need to do so, even in the hottest of weather.
i have an 07 ultra and have did the upgrade and syn oil and pipes and that all helped.
don't have the heat guards
but something that i noticed:
i usually wear heavier pants when i ride. like fire hose from duluth trader or like jeans with kevlar of kevlar lined.
one day i went out with some regular jeans that had seen the wash quite a number of times (aka worn). my thighs got like REAL hot.
so even in 90 degrees, i prefered the heavier material to the heat at idle.
so on your travels that require stops and idling - wear some heavier leggins
now if i am on a trip and won't be stopping that much then i wear mesh overpants with gym shorts underneath and if i do get caught up in traffic, again too hot. but cool while moving.
I have an '09 Ultra as well with 800 miles. For me it's my right foot. Lots of heat coming off that pipe next to floorboard. Got highway pegs to get away from the heat. Not that hot anywhere else like the foot. I'll give it more break-in time to cool down and plan to switch to synth. at 1000 mile service. Question: Can EFI be richened without other mods to cool things down a little. I presume EPA would be an issue, but seems like someone would do it. Wasn't sure what it would do to performance.
A good fuel management system will do the trick. I went with a Terminal Volocity 2 and it cooled my bike down. Pull your plugs if they are really chalky white you are running too lean. After installing the TV2 my plugs are nice and tan like they should.
Today it is 90 degrees again and that is sooooo unusual for our area. Wore my chaps today and it does help to have that protection on your legs over jeans. I think that from all I have heard that I will give Jamie a call at Fuel Moto and go for the SEAC and PCV. Thanks everyone for the help!!!!!!!!!!
I love summer and being able to ride to work is great! Going over one of our local floating bridges on the way in to work with Mt. Rainier in the background makes work "almost" worth it.
