So what is is the easiest way to change the fork oil? The manual makes it sound like you have to pretty much remove the entire front end. My dad use to use a hand pump and put it back in thru the drain plug, but that is tedious and is a pain when you pull the hose off and try to get the plug in without losing too much oil. There has to be a cheaper way to do it...
Yes you drain out the plug a the bottom of the fork leg. Refill is another story. On my Electraglide I had to remove the center dash under the ing swt. It is a bear to get the fork caps off and refill the forks using a small funnel and tubing. There are a few step by step write ups with pics if you do a search.
DO a search you should find a step by step from Iclick...i did it on my electra glide...took about 1/2 hour//.. Use Screaming eagle heavy oil...changed the handling of my bike for the better...
Just curious but why are you changing fork oil on a 07? I too have a 07 RG. My last ride was a 97 RK that I rode for 8 years and never changed the fork oil. Am I missing something?
If you dont have the measuring device for correct level the measurement level is 12" from the top of the cap when filled properly. I posted this after using the correct filling method when I changed the lowers.

i swapped out the factory oil in my 08 sg front end when changing over to the chrome forks. made a huge difference in the handling. at first i thought i made a mistake using the screamin eagle heavy. but i can go much deeper into a curve before braking, and it doesn't nosedive nearly as much when braking. i feel that the heavier oil made a worthwhile difference. no more pogo stick front end.

You should have ALL your braking done before you get into the curve...
Here's my story . . . I recently installed 08 Brembo brakes on the front of my 07 Road Glide. I love the braking although I now have more pronounced nose dive when I hit the brakes hard. On top of that, I ride 2 up loaded most of the time so the rear shocks are pumped up to 35#.
I've been thinking about putting a heavier oil in the front to balance things out with the back and to halp with the nose dive.
What do you guys think?
What oil should I use?
What is the best way to change the oil? Is there a thread here that will help?
Thanks everyone. Your help is appreciated.
