Question Hardbag Lock Modification/Alteration

Hey all - wondering if anyone here has ever modified the locks on their hardbags so that the keyed cylinder will work with any Harley key? Not looking for major security...just to be able to get my key to work on the bags I added without buying new locks from the dealer. I've heard the locks won't do much anyway if someone is trying to get in your bags...or am I better off picking up new locks from the dealer??

Take the locks to a locksmith along with your key. They can re-key the locks for you to work with your key. I think they charged me $7 each lock to have it done when I bought my hard bags.

Won't a gas filler cap key/lockset from an Ultra/SG/RG work with any key? I think that is the case. I may have one from a spare filler cap i bought a year ago, if I do, you can have it. PM me if you want it and I'll root around in the garage for it....

No, the key is not 'universal' for bags, only for the gas cover. He added the hard bags, so the locks on the bags are not 'in tune' with his current key.
