The only thing between me and a setup like that is the MONEY! Dam straight it's overkill but who ever said overkill was a bad thing????

I have a zippers 120 on my deuce and a sbc modified jims 120 on my street glide. The jims motor is by far more fun to ride. So far both have been reliable. The jims tags were easy enough to take off and is every bit the "sleeper" the zippers motor is. Most people think it is just a 95 with se heads. The other benefit of the jims setup is you can sell your stock motor and offset the cost.

Redleg63...YOU DA MAN! Really dude, you've got it going on. I'm surprized on you saying the JIMS is more fun to ride, but you've got it good on reliability as they're both rock solid for reliability, better than stock anyday. I hear you on taking the tags off...the sleeping Dragon rules. On doing a complete replacement engine as you would with JIMS, you can likewise do the same thing with Zipper's engines by just ordering the engine pre-built and have it shipped to your authorized installer and have it installed in one day. Also, and this is a big benefit, Zipper's will also pre-burn or break-in your new engine so all you've got to do is have it installed and then just get ready to haul ***. As far as I'm concerned, you can't go wrong with either engine and it's just a matter of preference. When you get a chance, how about posting some pics of those fine rides redleg63?

Ride on,

I have read other posts on other forums about lifter failures on the JIMS 120's. Anyone else hear of this? I believe they also come with chain drive cams. If I were spending that kind of money for a motor with that much power, I would not hesitate to spend the $500 or so to upgrade to gear drive cams. My chain tensioners took out my stoclk 88" motor with only 16,000 on the clock.

I personally don't think changing out the stock drive belt would be necessary, but whatever floats your boat.

You don't have to go with a chain drive, but, as with a Zipper's engine, it is recommended you go with the high load drive belt. Also, like you said, gear drive cams are the only way to go. If you got the money, and you don't mind having to train yourself to press those pressure releases...gotta love it...then these engines are the way to go.

Ride it and ride it well,

Buddy of mine did the same thing to his SG. JIMS 120, Baker 6 speed, yada, yada, yada. The bike friggin kills. Runs absolutely insane, and sounds great too. Thumbs up to ya, I'm jealous man.

axe11,

thanks,

the jims (sbc modified heads, ported manifold, s&s 625g cams) pulls way harder than the zippers. the spec.s are pretty close. the jims is carb'd and the zippers is efi. both are running boarzillas. there is a big difference across the whole power band, as the dyno shows.

I'll try to attach a couple pics.

Wish I would have just went for it. Right off the showroom floor. After 2 complete motor hop ups
the 120 is on order . Hopefully in a couple weeks. I could have saved a bucket full of cash
" going for it ".
