Default Poor balance

Hey guy's I just can't get comfortable on my "97 Ultra. I'm a big guy 6'3" and 260# with bad knees to boot. Slow speeds and backing out, parking, etc. is a real pain for me. The bike is stock, I was just wandering if I lowered it a inch or two, if this would help?

I'm 5'8" and lowered my RK an inch front and back to get better footing but with you being 6'3" I don't see how lowering will help. How are you uncomfortable? Footing? Seat position?

Lowering may the what you do NOT want to do. Are your knees higher than your tail bone? If so, you may not have good leg angle when duck walking your bike around. Also may put you in an uncomfortable position when riding. My buddy is your height and had that problem.

How long have you ridenn her? If you haven;t neen on an Ultra it is prone to be top heavey and not so eay at slow spped like when parkiing it etc. I found it very different when I first came over to the dark side. It is a matter of getting used to it and leave that front brake alone at slow speeds, Keep your head up and be sure where you are headed,

I came close too many times to dropping mine for the first few thousand miles, Now it is fine, I don;t have a problem with it. I also own a Heritage which does not have the same issues at slower speed.

Hope it all works put for you!

One way to cure that is with an 09 Ultra... Seriously, I don't think you want to lower it. I believe that would put more strain on your knees.

Minor point, but do you have a rider backrest on it? I find that makes it a lot easier to move backwards; it's more stable because you have more body contact with the bike.

When I bought my 2009 Ultra, I thought it was a LOT harder to move around than my Road King, but within a couple of weeks it seemed like no big deal at all. One of the changes that helped was the rider backrest.

Jeeze, just learn to ride it and you won't have to "duckwalk" it...
