what is involved to adding cruise&security to a 09/10
I am trying to save money upfront. if I get a new bike, I heard that on most models they all have it and just have to just program the bike or something like that. which I could maybe do at a later date. any info. appreciated thanks
Security requires a new TSSM module and is $299.95 with one fob
part number 68200-07 and the 2nd fob that comes with it if you get the bike with it already $39.95 part number 68926-07
we are now at $339.95 not counting any installation costs.
Not sure about the cruise on the 08 and newer touring bikes.
In the end there probably isn't any real savings and you don't have the same warranty coverage on the if you have them put on later.
I added cruise to mine later. Pretty easy installation if you have the mechanical aptitude in my opinion. Basically, on my 07, it was mounting the module, plugging it into an existing plug on the harness, running the cable to the throttle connection (I removed my fuel tank for other mods but it is advised to “raise” your tank a couple of inches to do this) and changing out the upper and lower switch housings on your bars.
I bought mine new off eBay for 200 bucks and I’ve seen them sell for 185 before.
I would advise you to get a service manual too.
The only security system I have is represented by Smith, Wesson, Ruger, Heckler & Koch.
It will be cheaper if bought on the bike from the factory.
I think your right, I was just hoping to save about $700 for the time being. fatgreedy bastards had to add it cruise as a option instead of leaving it standard

It's the labor at the dealerships that will get ya. I have both security and cruise and use them both all the time. I would highly recomend both.
It's nice to just get off the bike and not have to fumble for the keys every time you get off.
The cruise works absolutly flawless. Throttle lockers are dangerouse compaired to a cruise control.
