I have a Dragonfly on my '04 RK Custom. Really like it, I'll never have a bike without a fairing again.

I went with the Dragonfly also. Had it shipped directly to Firecap and had him throw the tunes in it. Kenwood head unit with the ARC 125.2 mini and the 6x9's. Sounds great, even at 75 mph. They aren't cheap, but well worth the money IMO.

I also built a fairing using a stock outer AND inner fairing covers. I am using just an amp and speakers to power my iPod (no radio) with very good results. I have used all the HD oem plugs to fill the small gauge holes. And fabricated some cool plugs to fill the large gauge holes. What I like about this is that it looks like a stock (and is) fairing yet completely detachable in a few seconds.

Unlike a lot of people who do this and say they will never take the fairing off. I primarily use it for cool weather or long rides where I want tunes. I run my regular windshield most of the time. For this reason I didn't go nuts trying to put oem guages and stuff in the fairing. I suppose I could put in dummy guages, but I wanted to limit the weight.

Hey Pumball, I'd love to see some pictures of your project. Both inner and outer would be great. Thanks. You can Pm me or email them if you prefer.

I don't have any as of yet, but I will try to take some cell phone snaps over the lunch hour and post them here.

Thanks karz, I posted a lot under another name over the last 5-6 years but dropped that when I went out on my own. I didn't want any confusion over past connections and I'm trying not to cross any lines, since I frankly can't afford to be a sponsor right now. It was easier to help with tech questions when I was just the engineer for someone else, but as owner of a fairing mfr. now it's hard to chime in without it being an ad or looking like I'm talking down someone else's product. I'll still help when I can and promise to be as unbiased as I can be.

There are others, but those are the ones I hear most about, mostly positive.

I can't decide either, that's why I added a chrome speaker system to my RKC to buy me some time...

Companies have different strengths, and different options. Speaker size/design, head unit options, some lock, some don't, all w/ varying cost points.

I think if I did it, I'd be tempted to put in my own audio package, but get the fiaring cut to fit ready for head unit and speakers, maybe an arc amp w/ really good speakers, and I'd kind of like one of those flip up display head units, so I'd probably contact that firecap guy on here and see what he says about the audio, the folks around here seem to like him.

Then there's paint, some paint them, some don't. If you have access to a good and affordable painter, that may make a difference in your decision.

I have two tone 03 paint on an RKC, so I haven't decided if I want all silver, or some black, and if so, where to put the black since I don't have any black on the fenders... or I could just put a leather bra on it to go w/ the leather bags...

Then you have to decide on how high a windshield, w/out having seen the fairing on your bike.

I would like to go to a rally where they're all there to compare, but not sure when that's gonna happen for me...

Oh BTW ddm, are those kuryakyn adjustable pegs on your bike, along w/ the bags for the guard rails? The previous owner of my bike put those pegs on, but I want those bags on the guard rails, and I thought they'd interfere. If you have any feedback on that, I'd appreciate it, I was thinking I'd have to take those pegs off...
Kinda like this?

Another for the Dead Center, it will take all the HD acc. and locks to the bike. The "Road Ultra" is hard to beat on a long distance cruise.

In 20 minutes, its stipped back down to a bar hopper too.
