Cape Coral Police have arrested Ryan S. Schaufert , 24, 1718 SE 2nd St., and charged him with DUI manslaughter in the death of motorcyclist Ronald L. Johnson, 54. He was killed on Friday, April 24.
The accident occurred at 10:27 p.m. in the 2600 block of Del Prado Boulevard South. Johnson was riding northbound on his Harley Davidson motorcycle in the center lane of Del Prado when he slowed for a traffic signal at Southwest 26th Street. The light had turned from green to yellow, witnesses told police.
Schaufert, who was traveling behind Johnson in the same lane in a Toyota Matrix, was unable to avoid the motorcycle and drove the front end of his car onto the rear wheel of Johnson’s motorcycle, police said. The impact ejected Johnson from the bike and he came to rest in the roadway.
Johnson was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital where he died. Schaufert was not injured in the crash.
Results of the drug screening indicated that Schaufert had a blood-alcohol level of .086 — more than the legal limit — along with the presence of THC in his system.

As stated before it SHOULD be some one killed by a person in the act of commiting a crime (in this case driving drunk and high) should automatically get the maximum penalty. The way things have been going he will get probation and community service.
I quit drinking this year. I remember reading about Dante Stallworth's troubles and thinking that could have been me more than once. Thank God I figured it out before I had any problems. I am so grateful for my sobriety.
