Mike go for the Custom if that is what you want.
Love mine and have done a bunch of long trips 2 up fully loaded. Some folks don't like the bars, for me they work great and are comfortable. The stock seat will not be comfortable for your wife, most likely not for you either.
But that is the same with many bikes.

So what are some of the more popular replacment seats out there?

Michael -

No work on the engine yet.. my initial priorities were getting the bike set up for the wife and I to do some long rides (Sturgis)... that and the pipes (and associated changes) were job 1.

I will likely look into engine upgrades next spring. This fall/winter will likely be updating the front end (bars and chrome).

So much to do, so little $$

Corbin and Mustang seem to be very popular. I went with the Corbin dual tourer, yuo either lovem or hate em. I love it. The Harely sundowner is also popular and has had many good reviews here on the forum

Was looking at a RKCustom and then the Streetglide arrived. Same bike plus fairing/stereo/gauges and hardbags, soon forgot the Custom!

The SG was MY first choice also! Two things. I prefer the leather saddle bags and want a more versital bike, like being able to put on and take off a W/S. Not to mention money.

Once you get behind a batwing with your favorite tunes blasting you would never think of taking it off!

Going back and looking again, the price is basically the same. Wonder how hard it would be to find someone to trade the hard bags for leather? Also, will the bat wing with low pro W/S keep the wind off the face of my wife? That is a huge selling factor for her!

Windshields are pretty cheep in the Harley scheme of things, remember what looks cool usually doesn't work good also applies to windshields. As far as bags go I'am sure you could find some leather ones but before you do try opening and closing the leather RKC compared to standard hard bags and it might sway your decision. For weather protection the E-glides are tough to beat, and did I mention the tunes!
