This is a continuation of a previous post regarding the failure of my cruise control on my 2005 Road King to stay engaged. Just got a call from the dealer whom I respect immensley saying that it appears as though the Vance and Hines Fuel Pak is interferring with the ECM thus causing the problem. I'm having them install a Power Commander and we'll see if they are correct. It almost had to be either the cruise module or something else - and, thinking back, it didn't start happening until I installed the Fuel Pak. I shot an email off to V&H hoping they'll acknowledge a problem and, if they do, I'll post their reply.
I am having the same problem and I don't have a V&H Feul Pack. I'm not even running V&H. I do have a PCIII installed. I set the cruise and it will work. The next time I set it, it will work and then turn off on it's on. After that I can't set it again. The big problem is it's at the dealership right now and it's working fine.
Pretty sure it was posted in here more than once that there was a problem with early FuelPaks messing with the cruise control, and that it has since been corrected. Is it possible you bought an old one that was on some dealers self for a bit?
I wish I could find that thread. I bought the Fuel Pak off of classifieds and it wasn't all that old. I'll wait to hear from V&H before I resell it. I'm just really happy they could find and hopefully fix the problem.
Got the Road King back today. Now with a PCIII USB - runs much better than it did with the V&H Fuel Pak. Was tuned in the Dino, something that can't be done with the FuelPak. I haven't heard anything from V&H as yet, but, I will be retuning the unit to them to see if there's some sort of firmware update or something. I'd hate to sell it as is. Beware of old Fuel Paks for sale anywhere - ebay or here. You will have problems with your cruise control unless you are lucky.
