Is painting your stock inner fairing the same quality as buying a painted inner fairing out of the catalog ?? In other words- does HD just paint the fairings as you would yourself or is there a different process involved?
I went with the factory painted inner fairing just because with my pearl paint it was gonna be an extra $100. So the cost savings wasn't that much.
I bought mine from Zanotti HD for $444 shipped right to my door. Then sold my stock inner for $100 plus shipping.
So it cost me $344 and painting mine was gonna be around $260. I never could get a price out of the painter. he just kept saying how high the paint was and he had to buy a large can. HD doesn't sell small cans of paint, blah blah blah yada yada yada.
Painting your own will be cheaper, but I just couldn't trust a painter around here for the $80 difference when I was gonna spend around $575 total installed.
From what I've been told no difference in process. I'm getting my done within the first 30 days of bike purchase so I will get full factory warranty. Looking at other threads removing fairing can be fairly involved for first timers so if work needs to be redone, warranty would cover labor.

I got my painted inner for $150 on ebay and sold mine for $125 also on ebay. I got the switch cover as a dealer take off from a crashed bike.(carbon fiber look) Did it myself in about 4 hours.
