Default HD Digital Oil Temp & Quantity Dipstick

I'm sure it has been bashed on here before, however I wanted to say it again...

Don't waste your money on Harley's POS touring model electronic dipstick.

I finally got fed up with inaccurate readings or no readings so I stuck my stock dipstick back in. The pisser is I still have one of HDs Softail analog replacement dipsticks which works great and was only about $30. This digital dipstick was around $135 !!

Sorry for the rant... Just didn't want anyone else to waste their money.

One edit: OBTW, I've got an "Oil Level and Temperature Dipstick with Lighted LED Readout - Chrome" for a 88" touring model for cheap. Best thing since the bread slicer...

My digital dip stick is working fine.....(6 monthes, knock on wood).
About once a week, I check the outdoor temperature.....and sure enough,
the Harley gauge shows the same temp. Whether or not when it shows 230 degrees.....it is accurate? Who knows.
When I stop for fuel, I check my oil temp.....by the time I am done fueling etc, I check the oil level. So far, so good.
I carry my stock stick in my tour pack......just in case.

mine seems to work on and off. Most times i just get the error message telling me the oil level is out of the testable range. When i pull it and check it manually, its fine. It is what it is, another example of form over function, still looks nice and is easier to remove than the stock press fit version.

I bought the analog version because I went to the dealer and asked about them, and the parts guy told me not to waste my money on the digital version. You know they must suck when the HD guy tells you they do, instead of selling you one.
