Had one for years. Works great. Make sure to find one with good insulation and fits your bags. Sometimes i will lay a towel in the bottom of the saddle bag and then place the cooler on top. The towel will help add some insulation from the exhaust and road heat.
I have the one that HD makes. It will hold ice for about 8 hours without adding to it, in a black saddlebag, in 90 degree weather. I have found that I really need 2 of them on an average day. You'll be surprised how many takers you have for a cold beer in the middle of nowhere on a long and winding road......
Good question, I had wondered the same thing. I have a cooler for the luggage rack, wife and I like to stop at road side parks or scenic parks and have a cold one and treats.
The HD bag coolers are awesome. Ice lasts for hours. Put a towel under the bag on your exhaust side(s). Nothing like an ice cold beer when there's no other around.
Keep water and soda cold right in your saddlebags on those hot summer rides. These zippered bags are fully lined and insulated to keep beverages cold. Room for up to twelve 12-oz. soda cans. The slant shape is designed to fit into Touring model color-matched hard saddlebags to maximize storage space.
Turn your saddlebag into a refrigerator. The insulating liner keeps the cold in, and the convenient zipper closure makes packing a snap. The square shape fits easily into most hard and soft saddlebags and has room for twelve 12-oz. soda cans.

Thats 2 votes for the HD cooler. After today, I would have paid $10.00 for a cold beverage out in the middle of no where
