Default Shark-nose removal instrutions

Wondering if the is an online instrutions for the removal of the shark nose and opening it up to get to speakers, gauges, etc. Or can you replace speakers without removing the shark nose? I found them for the Bat Wing but no Shark-Nose [:@]

Take the torx screws out of the inner fairing, remove the front turn signals and it's off. PIA to get it lined back up on the install, but it's a breeze to get off.

Nope, can't remove the speakers without removing the fairing. I haven't seen any online removal instructions. If you attempt it yourself, buy some of the wellnuts from the dealership...1.00 each....that attach the windshield to the fairing brfore you start. I know this from replacing windshields.....one of those little guys will drop inside the fairing and will eventually find its way out.....not worth removing the whole thing to retrieve it.
Start by removing the windshield and the headlight cover, then the turn signals. Remove the screws from the inner fairing that hold the outer fairing in place. Gently lift up and pull away the outer fairing....be patient, there is a technique to it. I've seen the techs do this a couple of times. It would be helpful to you if you can find someone with a shop manual and you could copy the instructions.........maybe someone could pdf them to you.
In my experience, I usually end up taking 5 times as long as it takes an experienced tech to do some of this work.........practice tends to speed things up.

Windshield and headlight cover does not have to come off. Why flirt with disaster on those well nuts? I have had my outer fairing off, trust me on this.

Wes........
My money's on you! For whatever reason, I've seen the techs pull the windshield before removing the fairing.......it is an unecessary step. Have you replaced your speakers and upgraded to the Hogtunes units? If so, was that a real chore?

Thanks guys, I have 1 light out on the volt gauge and was wanting to upgrade the speakers if I had to pull the faring, Just bought the bike and really don't want to let them keep it for a week. Going go with the hog tunes, owner sounds like a great guy.
Thanks again

I have not upgraded the speakers......yet. So far, my radio is drowning out the pipes. Not sure that the hog tunes would be much of an upgrade on the HK radio. They sound pretty good as is. I took mine off to install a oil temp gauge in place of the worthless ambient air ( inner fairing ) temp gauge. Had it off in like 15 minutes, but man, that thing is a bugger to get lined back up in the re-install. I watched the tech at the HD shop take my windshield off to install my XM radio......I actually asked him if he gained anything by doing the extra work. His reply......"I knew you had to take them off of the electra glide, I wasn't sure on the road glide" DAMM, I sure hope that he didn't do his training on my bike!

I have had mine off several times, never took the windshield off either, I have upgraded to the Hogtunes speakers and I think they are great. I would like to emphasize the part about the re-installation of the fairing as a PAIN IN THE AZZ!!!!!!! I will usually stab that sucker about a hundred times before I manage to get the lip of the light housing engaged on those freakin hooks!!!!! It just takes practice and patience......or luck, the last time I had it off, I got it on the third try. Philm, on the forum, can do it easily.....of course, he's on his second RG, so he's had plenty of practice.

DITTO everyone else here.
I have had mine off three times, and getting it back on is a pain. One thing I would suggest doing while its off that I keep forgetting to do is ziptie the wireing harnesses together to eliminate them from slapping the fairing from theinside. There is a cluster of wires on the throttle side that slaps the fairing now and then and it bugs me, so next time its off I will be zipping those harnesses to minimize movement.
Hog tunes do work great by the way.
