On occasion I have hit a single piece of gravel with my front tire while cornering. Its feels like the tire "slippped sideways" an inch or two while leaned over. Its a wake up for sure.
Walking back to the asphault, you could see two nice lines scribed as if by a LASER- straight off the road.
I'm wondering what hit besides the footboard? I know bikes are lowered but it always makes me wonder if that doesn't affect the handling, ground clearance which is only about 5" stock. So a lowered bike has 4" of ground clearance - is that right?
I ride mine with stock height but I think about handling snafus all the time. I hate to hear of your sorrow but have to laugh at all the rubes who post they've never dropped one or crashed in umpty-ump years of riding. Sure.
Sounds to me like maybe you dragged the board a little more then normal, allowing it to dig in a bit more taking the pressure off of your front tire.
Glad you were able to walk back to the asphalt though.
