I have seen on here that even changing a windshield on a Road Glide is a pain. Im going to be installing a Clearview Shield with the HD chrome accent piece in the next few days....also have the mounting screw kit from Clearview which they say makes the trim and shield fit better. Any tips on the proper way to do this. Any help will be appreciated.
Follow CVs instructions until you get to the last wellnut. Take a new shoelace and loop it around the last wellnut, pull it into alignment and start it into the hole, release one end of the shoelace to pull it free, and seat the wellnut the rest of the way. The CV shield is thicker than stock, and I couldn't get enough leverage to align that last wellnut until I used the shoelace.
Secondly, carry the hex key for the screws with you for a while. My windshield buzzed at certain rpm's until I REALLY tightened it down. Now it's fine.
I was pretty sure that the Harley chrome trim piece doesn't fit correctly with the Clearview windshield. I can't speak from experience, but I thought several on the forum have mentioned it.

Maybe I need to see the instructions to follow this advice, as I don't with just this. My Clearview is supposed to be arriving tomorrow and I also bought the chrome trim piece I was going to use with the installation on my '09 RG. I'll need to follow this thread and refer back to it once I get into the installation.
John at Clearview told me that this kit they sell for the HD chrome windshield trim was made to assure a proper fit with their windshields. Sounds like until this kit come along there was a problem with fitment.

I've e-mailed John several times thru the purchasing process....and now just again to get to understand this better. I tried to call, but he wasn't available. So your saying Clearview is going to make a kit (at some point) to enable proper fit of the HD-version of the chrome trim? I know they make their own trim....but I liked the HD-version better.
No......the kit Clearview makes is made to work with your HD trip piece you have. Look on Clearviews web site and you will see it. The description is vague but helps. At first i had the same idea you had that it was chrome trim made by Clearview. I think all the kit is is some different mounting screws and fasteners or something to that effect that makes their windshield have a cleaner fit on the bike.
Just to duplicate what was said. CV makes a kit for the trim piece to fit with the windshield. My trim piece fit great by using the kit with my CV shield. You install everything onto the windshield, including the well nuts, and start from one side to the other. The assistance of shoe string wrapped around the well nut and pulling toward the whole (as stated above) works great and eases the installation. Have someone there to assist and it makes it much easier.

John at CV put a their trim kit piece in overnight mail to me today. I hope to have it tomorrow or Monday. I got my windshield today and read thru the directions. I still don't understand the shoelace thing. The instructions don't mention it and they simply talk about flexing the windshield to work the wellnuts into the holes as you move from one side to the other.
