Just joined your site. I purchased a 2008 Road King last week, and haven't been off it since! My previous ride was a Honda, and this is like a Cadillac compared to that. This is my first Harley. Couple of questions for a newbie. The rear brake seems to squeak, is this unusual? Also, since I'm only 5'5" and 160 lbs., I installed a reach seat. What's the best way to lower it a little more? I'm o.k. at the stops, biggest problem is getting more traction when I push it backwards. Thanks for any info.
Dave
My rear brakes squeak as well, the pads are fairly new. I'm sure it will go away after a while. I also have the reach seat on mine and wear boots. If you need to lower it more than that, they sell a lowering kit and also lower profile shocks
Sounds like you have great taste! Enjoy the ride...... I suppose I might suggest the 12" shocks in back (not sure if you have the standard or classic) but you might lose some ride quality. I hear ya about pushing it backwards. That is why I park very carefully and try to roll backwards I am only 160lbs also so it alot of weight to a scrwany dude like me but I wouldn't trade it for the world.
Welcome to the forum from another Illinois(S is silent)member....Cant be much help on the hight issue.Im more normal 6'0...200 lbs....but as far as pushing your bike back if you tell your wife or G-friend(or both)that its customary for the gal to grab the front forks and push it back for you that will be a big help.......Remember top banana wins a prize!!!!Visit often....We don't bite!! (HARD)...Ride Safe.. R.W.
