My wife is a bit on the heavy side and hates the stock seat on my Road King custom. She tells me it is uncomfortable and makes her back hurt. I added the detachable tour pack and that helped, but still not good enough for her. I have to find something that works for her. There are so many different seats out there. Do I send my seat out to have it reworked ? Or do I buy a replacement seat for it ? Maybe add the gel packs too ?
I am actually on overload trying to figure this out. I would hate to drop around $500 and not solve the problem. I need help guys, you know the saying about mother being happy.
I just popped for a new Sundowner for my wifes comfort. It's a huge improvement for her. It pushes me a bit forward but not too much (1/2" to 1").
BEWARE - the tab on the rear of the seat that attached to the fender has two hex head bolts holding to the bottom of the seat that will gouge the **** out of your fender. Don't ask me what the MoCo was thinking - but grind them down or replace with button heads and you should be alright.
I bought mine at Chicago HD online - they give you 20% off retail stealer pricing, no tax - just shipping. I like them.
You can get the version that matches your bikes styling too.

Allen offers a Triple Decker that I had him add to the passenger section of my saddle that made my misses smile for miles. He also lowered and pushed my seat area back an inch making my ride more comfortable too. Trust me, and hundreds of other faithful MCC fans, Allen can make your misses happy. And a happy misses is a happy mister!
You might try this first http://www.buttybuddy.com Friend of mine bought one for his wife at Sturgis and had a couple of women tell him his wife will thank him.
+1 for MCC. I have a Sundowner on my Road King Classic. I sent the seat to MCC and changed out the foam, made the passanger seat wider and moved me a little forward to give her a little more room overall. Lady friend went from 50 miles max before stop to over 100 miles. Nice quality work as well. Give them a call and discuss your objectives in making the seat work well for her.

FYI: You will need to tell them how much you weigh and how much your wife weighs too. So they can recomend what you need.
