I have rented HD's several times, mostly just to help make a buying decision.
I was wondering if anyone here decided to keep or buy a HD not really designed for long distance touring and then just "Rent" the latest and greatest touring bike from Harley to make the trip?
Reason: Love my Ultra for one or two long trips a year, but around here locally its not the most exciting bike to ride, and because of other "Hobbies"
I am a one bike guy.
Just thinkin'......maybe someone else is already doing this ??
Thanks,
Gs
Gs,
I've owned a number of motorcycles in my life and I honestly love riding my UC. The handling on it is far superior to that of my Softail and while I can understand being in RR, TX may not provide 'that' much excitement for riding, the fact that you 'do' have an UC means that if you get a whim and feel like riding NE towards Missouri or W towards TX Hill Country, you can toss some gear in the saddlebags and go.
Renting is not cheap, IMO, and therefore not an option for me; besides that, I don't think there is another Harley that I'd want to own.

You may want to checkout "Eagle Riders". I have recently seen an advertisment that they were promoting a new 12 month lease program on HD model's starting at 249 per month. Maybe this will help You. No! I don't work for them.

can't find that--- do you recall where you saw that??
Why not do the UC but put on removable trunk brackets? Most of the time, take off the trunk. It looks a lot like a SG then. I can understand what you mean though, If I had to sell one of mine, I honestly don't know which one would go first.
