Default 2 questions

the Redline Heavy Shockproof goes in the tranny right? not the primary...

also since some of you know i'm taking on the raising of 3 grandkids with special needs and so the money is going to be very tight for some time. is there anyway to just bump up the richness on my 07SG at the shop or do i have to get an aftermarket controller to do this?

thanks and ride safe................

.........and there is no way for YOU to "bump up the richness" without a fuel management system or a dealer flash.

and if you run Redline in the primary it would be the MTL unless you bought the same stuff with a higher price relabled as v-twin motorcycle primary fluid

There is a reason why redline specifically makes a tranny fluid for v twins. The bike shifts beautifully and any down shift clunk is softened.

First, best of luck with the grandkids. It takes a special person to do what you're taking on.

Others have already answered the oil question. As for richening up the FI, you might want to give these folks a look see. http://www.nightrider.com/parts/
A lot of folks are happy with Xied's. They're a simple plug and play device that go inline with the O2 sensors.

Best of luck,
Steve R.

yep, the heavy shockproof, or another synthetic of 75-140 weight will improve the shifting smoothness. and then 20-50 synthetic in the primary. i use the same oil as i use in the crankcase in the primary, that way i only have two products i need to keep in stock.

XIED's and variants have a very limited function, which is to alter AFR's (richer) while the bike is in closed-loop mode. This will occur only when throttle-position (TP) is around 50% or less, so they will not affect AFR's at all above that point. If you plan on changing only mufflers these devices will provide some improvement in throttle-response and engine cooling, but at the expense of gas mileage. If you add a free-flowing AC or more you'll need either a Stage 1 download or a real tuner, and in the latter case you would no longer need the IED's.

If you spend another $175 you can get a real tuner with a map that fits the hardware installed on your bike, one that will grow with later upgrades.
