Default Brake Pedal Pad Help

I am swapping the original floorboards and foot controls with the HD Nostalgic controls and was wondering if there is a way to get the original brake pedal pad off the brake lever without damaging it. I was going to just cut it off, but was wondering if anyone has any tips on an easy way to get it off?

If I am looking at your bike in the signature, does the brake pedal not all come in one peice and you just unbolt it form underneath?

That is my bike, but no it doesn't come off that way. The new one I'm gonna install is made that way though. The one on there now looks like it was slid onto the metal plate and has lips on the engine side that catches the plate. I can "peel" those back, but can't seem to slide it off. I guess it's like grips in that it's not easy to remove without damaging. Unless someone else has a trick to getting it off, I'll probably have to cut it off.

Hey Swamp...

I did the same thing when I replaced my rear brake foot pad. Just lift up those "lips" on the engine side of the pad and spray some WD-40 under the rubber pad, both top and bottom of the metal plate. Eventually you will be able to slide it off.

I keep all my original stuff when I replace it so I too didn't want to cut mine.

Hope this helps,
Brian

Thanks Brian! I was about to try some soapy water, but will also try the WD-40. I keep my original stuff too...

Slide a screwdriver in between the rubber & steel, spray some windex in to lubricate and grab it with your hands and twist & pull. It will come off
