Long time coworker of mine eases up to the ATM today to get money to gas his cage. He discovers his card is declined so he heads to the bank to inquire...They tell him his $3500 checking account balance is now in the red 300 bucks, so he attempts to tap his 13K in savings....That too is gone.
He returns to work in shock thinking he is the victim of identy theft and calls his wife to discover she stole it all and is divorcing him and that he is locked out of the home he inherited and then remodeled for her and her kids....HER kids, not his...her kids that he raised and paid for their weddings and bought cars for and bailed out of jail and bought insurance for all these years....
Poor guy.....All the years I've known him he rushed home every night to her and always bragged on her, always flipping her pics in my face....he IS a victim of identy theft-he IS her husband and at the moment that IS his identy-he don't know what else to be except her husband.
I gave him 400 bucks to square his checking acount with some left for gas n eats....and suggested he move in with me till he gets a grip and catches up with her head start on him.
Been there, done that....I came home a few years ago to discover my horses, my new dually, my horse trailer and ALL my money and furniture was gone along with her and my identy as her husband and step daddy to her child.....I went out and bought two new Harleys, installed a dance pole and pool table, divorced her and never looked back.
Yep, I'm thinkin I got a new roomie and eventually a new riding buddy......I'll start him out on the Sportster and ease him into the Road King. Then I'll teach him to cook....Then I'll introduce him to a few tatooed tite butted little gals I know.
I'm thinkin he will get thru this.
He always admired my scoots and never understood why I converted them all to solo seats and pulled the passenger foot pegs.....I'm betting once he gets one under him and feels the wind in his hair he will understand and just twist the grip and go.
Friends....take care of your buddies....it's one ship and one crew in this old world, it's not every man for himself....be there for them....just don't let them see you cry for them....And never let them see you cry for you or they won't survive.

Good for you. Not to meddle, but even in community property states she has no claim on inherited property such as the house. The remodeling costs, well.....that's a different story. Hope it works out for him.
Been there & it is painful - life goes on - it gets better - but memories can be haunting at times and that sucks - with that said - live every day as if it were your last - no regrets!!!
