Looking at 09 ultras and seems a majority of the ones that are left are black. And while there is nothing better than black and chrome I am scepticle at how well the color holds up to all the debris that hits the front end components (like fender and fereing). So the ultimate question is how hard is this color to take care of?
What you will see is a lot of "scratching" in the clearcoat. It must be very soft. Swirl remover will work somewhat. But, if you are one of those "****" people stay away from ANY dark color....Especially black.
I've got a black Ultra with plenty of chrome. IMHO its the best looking color there is on a bike .....and by far the hardest to take care of. Any kind of flaw is much more apparent with black. I Don't know if I would get another one.
hmmm in our house we have 2 black bikes, 2 black trucks and one black car. I am not the person to answer your question beyond, yes dark colors are harder to keep clean, yes imperfections show more in dark colors and no it's really not a problem to keep clean. I get so many damn bugs on mine that it would look like crap no matter what color it was.
Black "holds up" as well as any other color. It is maybe harder to keep looking prime, but if you're good at cleaning and don't mind doing it, it will reward you with one of the best looking machines on the road. I belive they sell more blacks than any other color because it is the most popular. And the fastest color!
Funny thats all you can find, I had to wait 6 looooong weeks to get mine special ordered because they didnt have any at beginning of model year.
Pledge furniture polish is your friend, it is harder to take care of but worth it..
