Just got back from the Smokey Mountains, rolled up 1200 pleasurable miles on the RKC. Now I'm sure I want to do a lil' additional engine work.
My question is this: Has anyone simply done the headwork on their 96"? I'm not asking about boring the cylinders and changing the pistons to increase to a 103". I'm curious about the increase in performance with merely doing the heads.
My RKC currently has the thundermax, thunderheader TDs, and redshift 575 cams.
If there is a considerable performance difference in bumping up to the 103, that will be another discussion...
I'm interested in this also. I was told by a couple of guys who would know that if you have a 96, all you need is a bigger cam, some head work, a good 2:1 exhaust, and a tune and you should run with any souped up 103 and not get left...
I have read in the past, on this forum, that with the right cams and head work, you can get well over 100 hp and 100 ft/lbs. of torq. The local indie confirms this. I am trying to save the money to make this my winter project.
