Same here. I hated the stock bars and my elbows killed me on a long ride. I replaced them with the Reduced Reach Road King Bars, which are narrower and bring the controls closer to the rider. Much more comfortable now.
I did not replace the cables but I did have to order the wiring extension kit.

Was the extension kit hard to put in? I'm thinking of going to reduced reach also for my 06 Classic. I've logged about 4,000 miles since I got it at the end of April. My back is starting to get a little sore.[8D]
