Default Road king high bars wrist angle

I just put a set of Road King high bars on my 98 RKC (p/n 55954-00). I'm 5'-11", 220 lbs. and have a Mustang seat. I like the additional pullback (almost seems to be too much) but the wrist angle seems like it might be an issue on really long rides. I haven't put many miles on these bars and am wondering if anyone else doesn't like the wrist angle as well. The bars are in-line with the front forks for the moment. Would rotating the bars forward/back help?

Default high bars

I put some on my 06 RK last week, angle seemed different at first. I drove 300 mi on sat and they felt really good. No more back ache.

I had the same experience as you. I started out with installing the Heritage Style bars. They had an absolutely horrible wrist angle. So then I bought the RK High Bars. Better, but still ackward wrist angle. I finally went with the Wild1 Chubby Baby Apes. MUCH BETTER! Great wrist angle, and just a hair bit higher than the RK High Bars. Stock clutch and brake cables work.

+1 for the RK High Bars p/n 55954-00. Ended up with no backache, also. Put them on my '06 RKC. Now, 7,500+ miles with them. They took awhile to get used to. The more I rode, the better they felt!

My recommendation is locate a Road King with the handlebars you are seeking to get a feel for before buying 2 to 3 sets @ $80+ a pop to see which ones feel best. Everyone is different on what feels best and wrist angle fatigue complaints.

I added last month Heritage style bars for my Road King and couldn't be happier. I'm 6'2" and no fatigue or pains after nearly 1,000 miles of riding a 2 4.5 hour road trips. Handlebar height and wrist angle is not an issue. Great choice for me.

I know everyone's different but didn't we go over this in another thread with pics that showed the Heritage style bars have a very neutral hand position? I have absolutely no wrist discomfort riding all day long with them.

I researched this do death before buying a set of bars by reading thru all of the old posts. What was wonderful to some was awful to others. It would be nice to be able to sit on a bunch of road kings to see which one had the most comfortable bars for me but I don't think thats possible. I'm going to try the Road King high bars for awhile longer and see if I get more used to them.

Same for me. I've been 100% happy since the change (60,000+ miles).

Good advice. But if the motorcycle you're using for a comparison doesn't have the same seat ( a Mustang in this case) you're not going to get a good reading. Seat and handlebars go "hand in hand", so to speak.
