Default Need Advice-Lake George area

Friends and I(5 people-4 bikes) will be on vacation in the Lake George area Sept. 10,11 +12. Need some advice for some good rides.
We will be staying at the Trout House Village Resort in Hague. Looking for 5-6 hr. round trip rides with a few stops.
Anyone familiar with the area? Hook us up with some nice ridin' . Would like to stay away from the highways if possible.
If anyone lives in the area and would like to ride with us for a day that would be great (dinner + beers on us after we get back) PM me if so.
Thanks.

You are in for a treat.

That area is amazing that time of year. I recommend heading over the border into Vermont.

Try the following trip out for size. My wife and I have done it many times.

You can just drag the points in Google to change things if you like. I promise you, you will love that area for riding - especially that time of year.

Nice route Bibleman. I'll be heading up there the same weekend and plan to take a similar route though may have to modify it now. Triggerman, a nice link to look at...

Many times, we cross back over from Vermont using the Charlotte-Essex ferry.

When you open up the map in Google Maps, you can drag any of the points you wish in any direction you like. The directions and running mileage will update automatically.

Any route you take through Vermont will knock you out. Very pretty riding, and you will likely also go through some covered bridges.

I'd do as stated and cross the border into Vermont. We do have some excellent riding in this neck of the woods. I live about 2 hours from Lake George. If you go to Route 4 and cross into Vermont you can head to Woodstock and then take 106 over to Downers Corners and stop for an ice cream then you can go from there over to Windsor and cross a wooden bridge into NH and come up 12A. You can stop at Granite State HD in Lebanon and then you can go back over into VT and go up Route 14 to Bethel and then take Route 100 back over to Route 4 and back into Lake George. That ride with the ice cream stop and HD stop would take you just over 6 hours.

Well I live in VT and I would do a bit of the opposite. I'd ride north into the Adirondack park. Route 30 is one of the best roads we have in the north IMO. Take route 9 north to route 28. Then take 30 to route 3 (all the way to Saranac lake). Then start making your way down 73. You can decide by the time where to go from there. You won't be that far above Lake George and if it gets to late you can pavement it to Lake George. Vermont is certainly beautiful and the ride they have is a pretty one...but I happen to like the roads in NY better. Oh I wanted to add that some of our roads didn't fare so well this past winter. Some of VT's most beautiful rides end up being roughed up by the roads. I can't believe how bad route 100 was(up towards Waitsfield and south). Again just my opinion

Thanks Dawg. A ride into VT is a definite for us. Might have to do it twice. Thinking about riding up along Lake Champlain. Thinking about going 22 or 30 to 7 then either cross over by ferrie or continue up rt.2 then come back down on N.Y. side RT9. Are these good riding roads(scenic+twisty) or boring? Any reason to avoid them? Is Green Mountain HD close by?
Is Queche Gorge or Echo Lake aquarium worth seeing?
Any places to get a good burger? Thanks for your time Dawg.
