Guys i just don't know what else to try.I fill my bike all the way the rim with gas using 93 octane and my milaege goes to only 153 miles before the gas light comes on.
I'm getting 31 mpg is this ok and if not please tell me what can i check to make this milaege better.
It's lousy. And may be harming your engine with unburned gas contaminating the oil. Pull the oil dipstick and see if you smell gas. If you do, your oil is seriously contaminated and loosing/lost its ability to lubricate properly.
You can contact Zippers for a better map; or, take it and get a good dyno tune.
Ii consistantly get between 35 and 38 mpg. 09' Ultra with monster ovals, pv5, SE intake. I'm a big fella and I drive it pretty hard some of the time. Most of the miles are highway 2up, 65-75 mph. I'm satisfied with the mpg. I got about the same with my 06 w/ SE slipons and HD download.
Me and the wife get around 48-49 0n 09 SG stock other than slipons.
What kind of riding are you doing ? in town or straight out highway cruising. could make a difference if you do a lot of start and stop driving
My light goes on at about the same mileage interval 148-155 just depends. However when I fill at that point, I'm averaging 3.7 - 4 gallons, so I still have at least 1 gallon or so left. Puts me at the average of about 40 MPG. My best so far has been 223 miles to a tank, thats 44.6.
Now someone mentioned popping on slow downs, and I do get that once in awhile. I also burn 93 octane.
Most people believe higher octane burns quicker, it actually burns slower and longer than 87 octane. 87 octane fires very quickly and is good for multiple piston action, but in HDs you need the longer burning 91+ octane for a longer explosion inside the cylinder for push.
That sucks! I have stage 1 with V&H mufflers, SE a/c and Fuelpak and I never go below 40mpg and as high as 48mpg. Use non-ethanol gas if you can find it. (Citgo or Pennsoil are two)
Yeah 31 mpg is definitely low. When you start doing alterations of intake/exhaust and ECM, etc the gas mileage can go in the tank with some bikes and others get better mileage. It's a tricky thing to figure out what the culprit is that causes this from one bike to another.
have you considered removing your tuner and allowing the stock ecm to regulate your fuel flow? you may have to get the stage 1 download, but your mileage would improve. i have a pcv and my mileage went down enough to where i'm going back to stock. it had plenty of power without the fuel modifier. rinehart slip ons, se air cleaner and stage 1 download is enough for me. one thing worth mentioning, if you rev your motor at the stop lights, or when you're sitting there idling. that takes a lot of gas. remember seeing into a carb when you'd hit the gas? that's a significant amount of fuel being wasted just to hear the bike. hope you get yours working right. mine was 40+ mpg average before the pcv. now it's 34 or so. that's with the stock 96" etc.
