Don't be too quick to blame Fuelmoto. I have the PC-V and with my canned map get consistent 42-44 mpg. There are so many variables to fuel mileage and trying to compare what others get is useless.
It may have something to do with this:
04 Road King classic
95ci/6speed trans/Cobra pipes/Kerker power muff
Big Breather Screaming Eagle Air Cleaner
TMax-Auto
88 HP/107 TORQUE
I would think it takes a lot of gas to get 107 lbs of torque and I'm sure you don't baby it around either.
Guys i just don't know what else to try.I fill my bike all the way the rim with gas using 93 octane and my milaege goes to only 153 miles before the gas light comes on.
I'm getting 31 mpg is this ok and if not please tell me what can i check to make this milaege better.
Your 04 Road King has a 5 gallon tank. Based on your calculations 153 miles/31mpg your suggesting the tank is empty when the light comes on. My expererience would suggest you have at least 1 gallon left. That means you are getting 153 miles on 4 gallons or 38mpg. For this type of build (04 Road King classic,
95ci/ 6speed trans/ Cobra pipes/ Kerker power muff
Big Breather Screaming Eagle Air Cleaner/TMax-Auto
88 HP/107 TORQUE) that doesn't sound at all out of line.
I agree with Peddler....I bet when you go to fill up at 153 miles...you only get 4 gallons of gas in there or less. I find the same thing happening on my 09 EG...but I get better then 31 mpg. When the light goes on it just means you should start thinking about gas soon (not right this second). I've never managed to get more then 4.5 gallons of gas in my bike even when it says I'm on E(and mines a 6 gallon tank). I know I can go another 40-50 miles easy when its on E. There's so many different variables when trying to calculate mpg..don't get to caught up in that. Figure what works for you and go with it...lets face it if you were so concerned about mpg would you have bought a Harley? Before you take your bike in and spend $$$$ take a closer look at what's happening. If you still feel you bike isn't getting ok mileage, then have it looked at. But if you really are getting 38mpg and your on the throttle quite a bit..then that's good. Try doing a ride at 55 mph the whole day and see where that gets you...I bet its a bit better mpg. Just my opinion here.
I have the same mileage, same problem. But my calculation is based on the galoons I buy. It doesn't go over 33mpg which was around 40 when the bike had stage 1
When I first saw this thread, I thought it might been a new bike issue. At least you've had the good fortune to have had some work done with some fun to follow no doubt and you could have an "excuse" for low mileage if you were romping on her a bit. That's close to what I get on our stock '09's without any goodies on them. If we had a bunch of power and ran them hard, I'd almost be willing to say "my mileage sucks, but ............."
Like others have said, I'd check the tune of the bike from the plugs to the ECM. And of course, the right wrist!

I agree here, JUST HOW MANY GALLONS ARE YOU USING IN 153 miles?
I never could figure out why people wait until they think they are about out of gas to fill up. My wife refuses to put gas in her car until the fuel light comes on. What she going to do when they light doesn't work anymore? I know what she going to do "CALL ME". It's happened before. We had a van one time that an 18 gallon tank and a 22 gallon tank. 40 gallons of gas and guess what? She ran out of gas. But that's just one of my rants. Do the math on your millage. Or post your numbers and we'll do the math.
I have a 00EGC with A/C kit. True Duel exhaust, SS 510G cams and a PCIII, on the highway running between 70 and 75 my low light comes on right where yours is.
