Perhaps an explanation of my situation may help you kind folks help me.

I have a cracked y-pipe on the rear cylinder. When I brought my bike in for some brake service, I indicated the problem on my bike to the stealership service manager and asked for a repair quote. After getting my bike back, they mentioned that my intake manifold was also cracked, which they suspected was a potential result of the heat from the cracked y-pipe.

My bike has been starting rough and idling badly the past few weeks, which may be a result of the cracked intake manifold.

I am not entirely satisfied with some of the service I have been getting from the local stealership or independent, so have decided to replace the manifold myself, which is why I was looking for a part number, so that I may place an order with an online source. Also, are there any seals or gaskets that I should replace at the same time as the manifold?

Of course, I will be fixing the cracked y-pipe. Actually, I will be doing the Fullsac true-duals upgrade and eliminate the problem and future possibilities of recurrence entirely.

But you still have not told us what kind of EFI you have....I might be able to help you out if i know which one. One of the easyest ways to tell is by how fuel lines are coming off the fuel tank? Because the MM EFI has 2 and the Delhi has 1. then i could possible get you a part number and maybe even the part you need.

I have two fuel lines leading out of the bottom left of my tank. I did not have time to do much today with the bike, as I had some family matters to attend, but I did manage to snap some digitals of the manifold. Please excuse the air cleaner, as I did not have time to take it off. Hopefully this helps.

When you say "intake manifold" do you mean the Induction Module Assembly (part # 27202-99)? I have a 2001 FLHPI with MM EFI and when I had the 95" upgrade done I found out my IMA was cracked and needed to be replaced (or welded). I found the above part number on my bill and the box my new IMA came in so it should be correct for your year model. Price was $1065.00.

Wow. $1065 for a new assembly? I can imagine what my wife will say when I pitch that repair to our household budget. She is going to sound like my bike aggressively revving through second gear.

wwwWWWHHHAAA-A-A-A-TTTttt?!

I suspect I am going to need to personally save up for that cost, as "the house" will not have that kind of money to drop on my bike with all the other things we have going on.

Thanks to everyone for their help. Much appreciated.

I just wanted to post a quick update on my situation for those kindly interested.

Without getting into details, it has been a constant mechanical and electrical battle with my Road King since January. I have probably sunk about $2000 in parts and service so far and the problems keep coming. It has been more difficult to justify the costs to my family as time wore on. I have put in an honest try over entire weekends to keep the bike on the road but it has not been loving me back.

The Road King is due for service early next week on a fender recall, so I am having the front brakes and intermittent headlight looked at the same time. My left fork seal just started leaking earlier this week. I am at the end of my patience.

Fortunately, a few forum members have made some offers on helping me get through this. This is a testament to the character of some of the good people here.

I am exploring some options to move from the 9 year-old Road King to a new Street Bob with extended warranty. It may be strange that I cannot justify the cost of a manifold for my bike but able to consider a new machine, but it is easier for my family to accept “going new” rather than “throwing money at old.”

If the Street Bob transition does not work in my favor, I will be winterizing the Road King early this season and mentally back away from it for a while to get some perspective and perhaps some fresh thoughts on the problem. In addition, I have friend who is willing to see what they can do with the cracked manifold for a possible workaround to outright, expensive replacement.

What ever happened to your intake problem? I have a 2000 that I'm converting to carb and have all the MM EFI parts. If you need them let me know.

I took a bit of a break from working on my Harley. Had to dedicate a bit of my spending budget to some family birthdays but am now back on my bike winter project track.

I disassembled the air cleaner and intake assembly. There was no crack anywhere to be found. Given the poor reputation of my local stealership, I would not be surprised if they tried to pull a fast one on what they thought was a new/naive customer.

I will continue using my existing hardware. Thanks for looking out for me, everyone.
