Well, as a relatively new and first time Harley owner (Feb. 2009) I have nearly broke the bank doing engine mods, wheels, exhaust, seat and the list seems endless. Having so much done I have only managed to put 3,000 miles on her.
Now the final touch will be a paint job. After much research on what appears to be many good painters I am about 95% settled on Cutting Edge Illusions (formerly JE Illusions). The web samples look very well done and the testimonials about their work and service is second to none. However, very few to no vendors would ever post bad testimonials on their web.
Has anyone had any bad experiences with them or know anyone who was not completely satisfied with their product, service, price, etc?
I realize this is a question few people will be able to respond to but to those who can thanks in advance for any input.
Because of the workload in their shop it took about 10 weeks to get my tins back. However, they are true artists and work with you every step of the way. I have had other paint jobs but nothing compares to the quality they put out.The tins look wet in the sun. I sent my tins to them 2/9/09 and got them back on 5/19/09. Plan Ahead. I just made Rolling Thunder! Solomon and Nick are great guys. Jeremy did some really nice work. A little pricey but, you get what you pay for.
Dont rule out Mitch Omar out of Memphis. O's custom paint. He was the custom painter for Bruce Rossmeyers dealerships and is incredbile in his artistry.
He also has tins in stock to do an exchange porogram so that you dont have to have the bike down so long.
No experiences with JE Illusions.
Had to get a new tank for my bike. I looked at JE and Airea 5150 but I just couldnt spend that kind of loot right now. Ended up talking to Pat at Kustom Flames. He frequents one of the other motorcycle boards, and has a website. He hooked me up with a new tank, and paint job at an unbelievable price and turnaround time. Was constantly sending me emails with updates pics of the progress. Had it in less than 8 days including a weekend. From Mass to NC. Very happy and would use him again.
I talked with many of the custom painters before deciding on Racepaint USA. The communications were excellent and he even gave me ideas to save money. I got photos before he finished coated, added some pinstriping, etc, no extra charge. His work is flawless.
Go for it - you won't be disappointed. Had my bike painted by JE Illusions in '05 - great flame job! Sent the front fender back in '07 after it took a rock in Sturgis. In June 2009 had them match up a new tour pak with the same paint/flames. That makes 3 times with absolutely no complaints. Did a quick turn around on the tour pak about 3 weeks. Class act operation!
