I have both. The vinyl one and the cordura. I got the cordura lowers because the vinyl one are way too tight. They're a pain to get on. Maybe its just bad snap button placement on mine. The cordura lower have two clips and are adjustable.
Have a set of Desert Dawgs that have worked well.On and off in a couple of minutes and don't take up much room in a saddle bag.I'll leave them on until ambient temp. hits 70 deg. Still gets plenty of air over the cylinders.
You just can't beat the HD vinyl model for the money. I've had one set since '95 so they can and will last a long time. Use care when unsnapping them. If it's very cold you will pull the snaps out if you just yank on them. Easily repaired at any upholstery shop, though. You can run them all the way to 70 degrees as long as you're not in a parade.
Tried a set from Chilowee ($$$!!) - not near as much coverage and the straps and plastic fasteners are a pain - sold 'em. Also tried a set that fastened with Velcro (I forgot the brand). FYI: Velcro has a lifespan and it didn't take long before they would barely stay on my StreetGlide. Went back to the vinyl HD's and all is well.
I was looking into getting some of these untill i can afford hard lowers, but you cant have highway pegs on your engine gaurd with these soft lowers right?
