Default Hogg Chopps

I have a 07 Road Glide and I'm thinking about installing a set of Hogg Chopps lowers to help with the turbulence coming up from below. Has anyone else with a RG tried these and does it help?

Yes, I installed a set this spring on my '08 and I do believe that they help eliminate some (but not always all) of the buffeting. There has been a few threads on here about this so give it a 'search'. Am I happy with them - another yes.

If you already have a better than stock windshield that helps with the buffeting, the Chopps will be the last piece of the puzzle. I have them and love them so far. I just need a better windshield now. When i duck my head below the windshield, it's a very smooth ride. That's with a half helmet. If you wear a fullface or 3/4 with a shield, it is also smooth with the stock windshield until about 80 or so.

I purchased a Clearview (stock height) first and it helped a little. I'm 5'9" and in retrospect should have purchased a + 1. I later added the Hogg Chopps and 85% of the buffeting was eliminated. I only get some mild buffeting around my cheek area and the breeze actually comes from behind me now. Got caught in the rain last week and watched as the raindrops blew forward off of my raingear. Also, riding in cold weather is much, much easier when not having to contend with a blast of icy cold air pummeling your face and body. A big thumbs up for the Hogg Chopps , I'd recommend them to any and everybody! The only complaint that I have is that the color doesn't match well. I ordered mine in Mirage Orange Pearl and they came in whatever color it is that they paint the Ford (HD) trucks. It's very noticeable and I need to get my butt in gear and contact them about the error. (maybe they'll see this and contact me and save me the hassle) LOL

I tried to order some and they are out of the parts used to mount them. I'll wait a week or two and get them on order. Mine is vivid black so they sould be able to match pretty good. I also have a clear view but am considering a taller one that I would look through instead of over.

I just installed my Hogg Chopps and I am happy with them. Some things to be aware of are:
  • They, IMO, look unfinished as they come. I added some chrome trim around the edges and think the trim does a good job of finishing the look.
  • The color match is good, at least with the Pearl Black, but the color match paint is only on the front half. The inside is a flat black color. If your cycle is a color other than black, you may not like how it looks. If you asked them (call and ask of Andy) to paint the inside the same as the outside, they will do it for an extra $75. If you’re looking for a sharp look, I would recommend doing this.
  • The Hogg Chopps mount on to the front of the engine guard which puts them well out in front of the rider. I feet don’t get claustrophobia from being enclosed in the lower fairing as they did when testing out the H-D brand.
  • They don’t block the wind flow pass the motor, there’s plenty of air passing across the engine. If you’re looking for a big reduction of wind on your legs, you might not like them; there is a reduction, especially if you’re using the highway pegs, but if your feet are on the floorboards your will still feel the wind on your legs.
  • Lastly a glove box option is not available. They discontinued it. There is still a url out there, but ignore it.
  • They’re easy to install if you have the correct tools. I am no mechanic so if I can do it, anyone can.

This thread show nicely what they look like out of the box.

Overall I am happy with them. I purchased them more for styling than function and with the slight changes I made, they deliver what I wanted.
