Default Extended service plan

I have a 2007 street glide with 12000 miles. I received a card in the mail telling me my extended service plan is expireing. The question is , is it a good idea to purchase additional years of coverage? Have not called so I'm not for sure what it costs or what it covers. Pros and cons of extended service plan greatly appreciated.

Cool

I have the extended warranty and it has paid for itself with my tranny being completely rebuilt. Plus I love the fact that it is unlimited millage.

Good investment.
None of this equipment/parts on these bikes are low dollar items.
Labor is also a killer.
Mine has paid for itself.

My factory warrant expires in about three months (two years will be up). Will H-D send me a card offering to purchase an extended warranty at that point?

I got a maintenance/warranty plan (3 years) as part of the deal when I bought my UC. I get my work done at Earl Small's in Marietta, and being on their priority plan gives you a promise of in by 9 AM and out by 6 PM and puts you in the front of the line of bikes being worked on. Usually when it is an interval service I make an appointment anyway and tell them I am going to be waiting for the bike. Got my 5K service done about a month ago and was in at 9 AM and bike was done in 2 hours, including them washing it.

Its nice when I go in for routine services and don't pay a dime for anything including fluids. I talked to the dealer last time I was in and I can extend it and the warranty anytime before expiration...and I probably will if I choose to keep the bike...however the dealer will transfer whatever I have left on the plan to a new bike if I buy one, although I am planning on keeping this one for at least 5-7 years.

I don't have any problem turning a wrench, but it is nice not having to sometimes. I will confess I put my own oil cooler on after I found out that HD wanted 2 hours at 85 an hour to do the install. I went home and put the thing on in about an hour. Not sure what takes them 2.

But, do you have the Harley-Davidson Extended Service Plan? With all due respect, Earl Small's maintenance agreement isn't going to help you when you blow a head gasket in Arizona.

It was worth it on mine, but I bought a used bike with 33,000 miles and a lot of mods done to it. I also ride about 17-18K miles per year. If I would have know I could extend it, I would have bought more before I hit the 75,000 mark. Once you hit that, you're done.
