Default 2009 Street Glide purchase

I ve been looking to by a 2009 Street Glide .
Although 2010 is not out of the question I kinda like the dual exhast option better .
My color preference is red or black ..Only option I,d like is Cruise ...
I ve been looking on the net , calling and also looked at a used Street Glide .
Whats your opinions ,,
I here so many claiming great deals on new 09,s ??
Some are saying $18000. to $19000 out the door depending on options .
Here are a few deals that Ive located .

1. New 2009 Street Glide ( dealer no miles ) has
ABS , Cruise , Security , and is dark blue ...says $19300. otd .... JUST so you no OTD does not include my local 8% sales tax ....

2. Demo 2009 Street Glide ( dealer ) 889 miles .
Also ABS , Cruise , Security , black in color .will do the 1000 mile service and make sure bike looks 100 % clean and ready . says $17995. out the door ...Does NOT include sales tax ...
Both bikes abought 7 hrs away from me .
So some traveling and a few bucks to pick up .

3. Used 2009 Street Glide ( private sale ) 2850 miles .
Bike has been on road for 2 1/2 months . Seller wants out .Claims he had an 07 SG and had trouble with the transmission and Harley went good and gave him the 2009 ??
Anyway it has 2850 miles , Black and has cruise only . something owner never new it had ??
Bike needs a good cleaning , not bashing but I,m VERY FUSSY with my toys .
Also noticed a little oxidation on a few bolts and corrotion on the exhaust clamps ..
Took it for a ride , seams to go good , Noticed the front brake has more play then my Low rider had .. Asking $17500. offered and said hed go $ 17000.
Only problem is he never registered it in his name and it will be at least 3 eeks to get the title back so I can ride it .. AAARRHH,,,,

Still lookin but what do you think ??
Should I wait ??

Default Easy pickins for me!

#1 if you are serious about $19,300 OTD!!!!! Easy pick for me. By the time you add TT&L to option #2, you'll be at >$19k but with a used bike that someone else "broke-in" rather it was beat on or not.

You ain't getting OTD for less than $22k down here in SW Louisiana for a StreetGlide loaded.

JUMP ON IT!

I was Zylstras in Elk river yeterday and an BN 09 sg Black, Cruise, abs, wire wheels, security= $20875, I told him they were crazy. that would be around 24000 otd, didn't even bother asking about the 2010, I'll keep my 07 for that.

Look at it this way the Average trade in value for an 09 Street Glide is around 15K. At this point the 2009 models are a year old bike because the 2010s are out. So, The 2009 at most retail is worth about 18K with Zero miles, 1000 miles about 16500-17K. Out of those options you would be better off going with the 2010 and changing out the pipes. You should be able to find a dealer who will sell the 2010 SG for MSRP with perks easy enough. Or talk them down on the 1000K mile one, unless you want an unmolested bike. One more thing the private seller you shouldn't pay more than 16500 for it.

1 & 2 sound as ok deals.

#3 sounds a little weird. I've never heard of anyone being given a brand new bike for one that is 2 years old. Even if it had transmission problems, seems like they would have swapped out the transmission while under warranty and saved a ton of cash.

And that never regsitered it in my name? How is that possible? In Georgia, it has to be in your name in order to get a tag.

#3 no way. I think #2 is a bit better than #1, $1,305.00 cheaper out the door plus the first service included ($200 or $300). But #1 is dark blue so that makes the price difference less since a color costs more than black. Myself I would go with #1 since its new and it is a good price. I may be a little biased in my decision though.

Default Loosing it ...

Ive been calling around and racking my brain ..
I like choice #3 do to it being local but not sure on playing the waiting and wondering game ..
I did check with the local dealer where bike was purchased and it was boughten brand new off the floor by HD and given to the guy that owned a 2007 SG LEMON ???

I ,d rather have black than blue ..
Only problem is black is a demo.. Dealer said he took off $2500 on both bkies and an extra $700 off the demo .
I figure the demo being a used bike and black should be less .. I figure $17000 with the 1000 mile service would be a decent deal .???
Itl also cost me $ 200 or more to go get it ..

Get the bike through the dealer. atleast you have some recourse if you have a major issue. id go new if it were me just to know what I am getting.

Where are you located? There has to be dealers closer than 700 miles.

#2 In my opinion demo bikes would of had the crap ran out of them.
Guys want to try they out and full bore don't they? Not a proper break in in my opinion.

#3 sounds too fishy. I wouldn't trust it myself.
2 1/2 months and he never registered it in his name?
A new tranmission from Harley would have been cheaper than giving him a new bike two years later. The whole story isn't being said.

Default Street glide 2009

After numerous calls to 2 States I located a few more 09,s but mostly at MRSP .
Funny how a couple said they had tons of calls on there 09 Street Glide yet it was still there and yes it was at msrp .
1 Last dealer I call at 7 hrs away had 2 09.s and one was black with sec. and cruise .
He said $18999. OTD , and he would eat freight and set up plus I,d pay tax and title fees .
After a brief chat he came down to $ 18500. plus tax and title ...
So I figure it would cost me 1 long day and $ 300. or so to go and pic it up .
Whatcha think ????

Same bike as the demo at $17999. with 889 miles but with abs or ,
Same bike as private sale 09 SG but with no sec, and 2800 miles ..$17000
