Default Iso Grip Install...Problem

I bought iso grips for my 08 ultra the other day. Read the instruction etc. and began with loosening the top and bottom screws to separate both housings. I also put a washer on the brake handle to hold the brake in position prior to removing the screws. The parts manager told me to do this before removing the screws. The top housing separates easily but the bottom cannot be moved to allow me to pull off the stock grip. Is there anything else I have to do to get the bottom away from the handle bar? I don't want to force anything since it will probably break. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks

loosen the two screws that hold the brake lever and reservoir, you don't have to remove them all the way. that will allow you to spread the clamps apart.

If you do remove them, be careful that the brake cylinder doesn't fall on to the tank.

There are 4 screws you need to remove. A top screw going straight down and then a small screw going up from the bottom holding the two halves together. In addition, you have to remove the 2 screws holding the actual brake and clutch levers on. I have done 2 sets of these and they aren't bad. Be real careful routing the throttle cable though. I just did an 09 with drive by wire and it was easier than anticipated but also easy to screw up if you don't pay attention. Good luck!

I put the Kury Pilot grips on my 08 Ultra a few months ago and had the same problem with separating the switch housing. I just monkeyed with it and pulled a little harder while wiggling and it came apart. Nothing broke and it went back together much easier than it came apart. Start with the right grip, as it sounds you are, and make sure to try the grips with all the gloves you will be riding with, both summer and winter gloves. I put the Pilots on and was ready to tighten everything down when I got out my winter gloves with the gel pads and realized they were horribly uncomfortable with the position so I rotated it 1/3 of a turn and it was perfect.

I only needed to remove the top and bottom screws on my SG. They seperated very easily. I had to cut away the stock grip on left side, but just used tape on the handlebar and pushed the new grip on. Holds pretty well and i wont have trouble taking it off

When I was a pup in the nav they had a course "tools and their usage"...
Sorry I'm just making snide remarks
There are four screws to loosen, not two. Dont let that spacer get away from you
After a while its all so easy
